GUY Ritchie has hit out at Madonna’s brother for writing a ‘tell-all’ book, which claims the director is homophobic.

The Snatch director insists he isn’t bothered by Christopher Ciccone’s book, Life With My Sister Madonna, which made a series of allegations about the Material Girl’s private life.

But Guy denies Mr. Ciccone’s claim he is homophobic – saying Madonna wouldn’t stand for it.

Guy said: “I don’t make anything of the book. The poor chap wrote it out of desperation.

“I don’t think it’d be intelligent to comment on that. I can’t give too much equity in what the chap’s going to write in that book.

“But you’d be hard pushed to be a homophobe and marry Madonna.”

The Godfather and The Godfather Part II have been restored and are returning to the big screen.

Cleaned-up 35mm versions of the mafia epics – directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro – will be screened at September’s Gotham Film Forum in New York before hitting movie theaters across the U.S.

The work has been carried out by Robert A. Harris, under the direction of Coppola and original cinematographer Gordon Willis.

Harris – who also worked on a Lawrence of Arabia restoration – claims his job was made tougher because high demand for prints of the movies had left the original negative in poor condition.

He tells Daily Variety, “(It was) the worst I’ve ever seen in a picture from the modern era.”

The first two Godfathers are among the most successful and critically acclaimed movies ever made.

Guy Ritchie talked about his wife Madonna, calling his marriage with the singer “invigorating and interesting.”

It’s the first time he’s spoken out since rumors tying the Material Mom to baseball star Alex Rodriguez spread.

Ritchie reportedly said to the Mail: “I believe my wife to be very creative so of course I’m interested in how she thinks and there seems to be no end to the desire to be creative; I find that invigorating and interesting.”

And when asked by the paper about their personal chemistry, the ‘Snatch’ director reportedly added: “You know, you have conversations, some deep, some shallow. That’s the same in everybody’s relationship.”

Ritchie recently threw Madonna a “low key” 50th birthday bash attended by “close friends and family,” People magazine said.

LeRoi Moore, 46, saxophonist for the Dave Matthews Band since its inception, passed away yesterday at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center after complications from injuries sustained in a June 30 ATV accident on his farm outside Charlottesville, Va. Band publicist Ambrosia Healy issued a statement saying his death was “unexpected.”

The talented musician, known for his jazz-flavored sound and his penchant for wearing sunglasses on stage, had been rehabilitating at his home in L.A.; however he returned to the hospital July 17 due to complications stemming from his injuries.

The Dave Matthews Band played as scheduled last night at the Staples Center in L.A., he had recently joined the rest of the band in L.A., with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin, who has been filling in for LeRoi during the band’s summer tour.

Although Dave Matthews announced the death of the band’s “dear friend” to the crowd on stage, news of the beloved band member’s death had already spread through the crowd before the show.

LeRoi is quoted on the band’s site as saying: “Jazz is probably my main influence, but at this stage I don’t really consider myself a jazz musician. I have plenty of space to improvise, to try new ideas.”

Turning 50 is tough enough without your pals letting you down.

The Daily Mirror reports that Madonna rang in her personal half-century mark at a $200,000 birthday bash over the weekend, but told the crowd of attendees she was “really disappointed.”

That sad admission, which was part of a 40-minute birthday speech from the queen of pop, came after Madonna realized some of her celebrity BFFs, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney, were no-shows for the night.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — John Lennon’s killer told parole officials during his latest unsuccessful bid for release from prison that he is ashamed and sorry for gunning down the former Beatle nearly three decades ago.

Mark David Chapman was interviewed by the parole board for a fifth time Aug. 12 and was immediately denied release. A transcript of the hearing was made public Tuesday.

The 53-year-old Chapman told the parole panel that, over the years, he has come to realize the gravity of what he did, and how it affected not only Lennon, but his wife, children and anybody who knew him.

“I recognized that that 25-year-old man, I don’t think he really appreciated the life that he was taking, that this was a human being,” he said. “I feel now at 53 I have grown into a deeper understanding of what a human life is. I have changed a lot.”

As he has in the past, he also told the parole board that he was seeking notoriety and fame to counter feelings of failure when he decided to kill Lennon.

“I would be something other than a nobody, and that was my reasoning at the time,” Chapman said.

The former maintenance man from Hawaii has been in prison for nearly 28 years. He was sentenced to 20 years to life after pleading guilty to the murder. The parole board decision means he will remain in New York’s Attica Correctional Facility for at least two more years.

In its brief decision, the two-member parole panel denied release “due to concern for the public safety and welfare.”

Chapman fired five shots outside Lennon’s Manhattan apartment building on Dec. 8, 1980, hitting Lennon four times in front of his wife, Yoko Ono, and others.

Ono, who has previously written the parole board arguing against Chapman’s release, did not offer any testimony in his latest hearing.

Fifty others did, however, and 1,100 people signed a petition opposing his release. Three people wrote urging that he be set free, Heather Groll, a state Parole Division spokeswoman, said last week.

Chapman’s next appearance before the board is scheduled for August 2010.

Britney Spears is “manipulative and cunning”, according to her father,

Dad Jamie – who is officially the conservator of Britney’s financial affairs and estate – insists 26-year-old Britney has the ability to influence him, because she plays on their close relationship.

He told America’s OK! Magazine: “She sometimes calls me 50 times a day and asks me things that light my life up. But, like all daughters, she is very manipulative and cunning. So she gets what she wants a lot.”

Jamie also spoke about his feelings for Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline, who was recently awarded full custody of his two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, with the pop superstar.

He said: “Kevin has a wonderful heart. He wants them to raise these kids together. Kevin’s heart is right.”

Jamie insists his relationship with Britney has improved considerably since he became her conservator.

He added: “We’ve grown a lot. I’ve been able to come back into my daughter’s life, and that was an adjustment anyway, because I’m an alcoholic and it’s the first time we’ve really been able to share.

The only news about Michael Jackson these days are about his money problems!

Wacko and his brothers in the Jackson 5 are going to be honored with a lifetime achievement award at this year’s BMI Urban Awards, but the gloved one probably won’t be joining his brothers on stage to pick up the award.

According to reports, unpaid royalties have fueled a rift between the brothers.

Michael supposedly owes his bandmates/brothers Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Jackie – $840,000 in royalties from their string of 1970s hits.

Also, MJ has reportedly not spoken to his brothers since being acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005.

The Jacksons are a sad bunch!

As we mentioned two months ago, nine tracks from Guns N’ Roses long-awaited new album, Chinese Democracy, have leaked online.

The album has been 14 years in the making.

It BETTER be good!

But, now, according to some inside sources, negotiations are reportedly being made to finally release the album as a exclusive to some giant retailer, like Best Buy or Wal-Mart.

Another source adds that negotiations are also under way for a conventional record company distribution.

Whichever way it happens, it’s about time that album gets released.

Of course, reps for Guns N’ Roses, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart could not be reached or declined to comment.

If the album does come out this year, Dr. Pepper better honor its promise of giving”everyone in America” a FREE can of soda.
